The Michigan-produced reality television series The Dockman has released its second season on Amazon Prime, bringing the series’ look at dock building, boating and Michigan’s outdoor lifestyle to a national streaming audience.

Produced and filmed by Michigan filmmaker Brandon Damon and Breaker Digital Marketing, The Dockman follows brothers Jerry and Garrick Wilson as they travel throughout Michigan installing docks and boat lifts for customers. Along the way, the work regularly leads to unexpected challenges, outdoor adventures and encounters with the people who live and work along Michigan’s waterways.

Season 2, titled The Dockman Rises Again, expands the series beyond the day-to-day work of installing docks and boat lifts, highlighting the people, locations and businesses that make Michigan’s waterfront culture unique.

At the center of the series is Jerry Wilson, a longtime Michigan dock builder whose path to entrepreneurship began well before television. After leaving high school, Wilson stepped away from traditional education to help support his family following an accident that left his father impaired. He eventually built his career through entrepreneurship and the marine industry.

Wilson later returned to education and earned his GED, a milestone that became part of his larger story of building a career on his own terms.

“The Dockman was never intended to be a traditional reality show,” said Brandon Damon, producer and director of the series. “We wanted to document what actually happens when you spend a season traveling around Michigan building docks and boat lifts. The people, the places and the unexpected situations are what make the story.”

Unlike scripted television, the series follows the brothers through real jobs and real situations on the water, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at an industry that is rarely featured on television, crew moments and all.

The second season also continues the series’ focus on Michigan’s outdoor recreation and waterfront communities, including locations throughout the state and the Upper Peninsula.

For Damon and his production company, the release represents another step in an independently produced Michigan series reaching audiences beyond the state.

“Michigan has an incredible outdoor culture, but there are not many television series that show what it is actually like to work on the water here,” Damon said. “We wanted to make something that felt authentic to the people who live this lifestyle and work with their hands every damn day.”
